On 1 April 2021, the firm converted from an ordinary partnership (constituted under the Partnership Act 1890) to a Limited Liability Partnership (incorporated under the Limited Liability Partnerships Act 2000) and is now incorporated as Bromhead Johnson LLP. Many firms in the IP profession, and in the wider legal profession, have already made this change and we felt that the time was right for us to do so too.
One of the main advantages is that the firm now has a corporate identity in its own right, which simplifies a number of behind-the-scenes matters, such as property ownership. The change is part of a modernisation programme, which also includes the opening of our sister firm Bromhead Johnson Europe SAS, based in Toulouse, France, to facilitate our ongoing practice before the European Union Intellectual Property Office.
We are also delighted to announce that Marine Body became a partner in the firm (i.e. a member of the LLP) on 1 April 2021. Marine is a qualified UK trade mark attorney, who has been with the firm since 2015; she manages the new Toulouse office.
After the close of business on 31 March 2021, the whole business of the Bromhead Johnson partnership was transferred to Bromhead Johnson LLP. Because the LLP is a new legal entity, some technical changes have been made to our terms and conditions and bank account details. The revised terms of business can be viewed and downloaded here. The new bank account details appear on all debit notes dated on or after 1 April 2021. Everything else remains unchanged and the service we offer to our clients continues seamlessly. We continue to operate as Bromhead Johnson, with the legal name of the firm being Bromhead Johnson LLP.
